Prev User's Tutorial: Creating a New Map Next

This tutorial goes through the basic steps in creating a Scopira map that will be able to perform exploratory data analysis on an fMRI dataset. After going through this tutorial users should be able to add modules to a map, connect the modules, interact with modules via their proponent windows, and run a map that will load an fMRI dataset, perform some basic pre-processing, and display the results of using Bezdek's fuzzy c-means clustering to find activation areas in the brain.

Once Scopira is launched (see the Getting Started Guide) you can create a new map from the map control window either via the File menu or by clicking the New Map button.

When a new map is created, a new floating window representing the map will be displayed. More than one map may be opened at any one time, the limitations being system resources such as memory. Modules may not be transferred from one map to another, that is, each map is a self contained unit. A map window is divided into two parts; the slot viewer, which displays slot information for the selected module such as, type of slot, name of slot, what module it is connected to, and the module viewer, where icons representing modules can be laid out, and connections between modules are drawn.
